The Activist Story: The Legacy of George Wiley
Screening and Discussion with Kendall Phillips

Dr. George Wiley joined the Syracuse University faculty in 1960 as a professor of Organic Chemistry.  His many scientific and teaching accomplishments, however, would be overshadowed by his political activism.  Wiley worked with numerous community groups as part of the Congress on Racial Equality and fought against discrimination in education, housing and economic opportunity.

Wiley would later leave SU to work as a full time community organizer before his untimely death in 1973, but his legacy as a champion of racial justice and welfare rights lives on.
