Introduction to (Adobe) Flash

Requested by Esther Probst.

This workshop will introduce you to the basics of Adobe Flash, proprietary software used for multimedia applications such as animation, web, and interactivity.

Participants should bring their own laptop if possible. I think you can download a trial version of Flash CS4 that is functional for 30 days for this workshop.

The 24-Hour Video Challenge

This event is geared towards high school and college-aged people, but anyone is welcome. Working in teams, you must conceive/script, shoot, edit, and present a video.

The 24-Hour Video Challenge is scheduled for Friday, November 6 through Saturday, November 7, 6pm to 6 pm, at SU’s Shaffer Art Building (room 207). It is being organized with the help of Zoe Meighan, and awesome person in general and also a student at Nottingham High School.

Class: Drugs and Alcohol in the Art World

This course explores uses, dangers, practices and tutorials on ‘Drugs and Alcohol’ and their uses and practical applications in the artistic world.

Each topic will be presented and taught by experts in their chosen medium and will be taught and practiced in a shared, safe learning environment.

Topics Include:
– Beer Brewing Basics
– Wine Making and Appreciation
– Dangers and desirable applications for prescription medications
– Psychedelics in the art making process
– Cannabis cultivation and appreciation basics
– Illegal Drug Dangers
– Legal Logistics: What to do if you are arrested

Generative Printmaking

This workshop explores techniques for creating computer generated imagery through simple programing procedures and applying that imagery to traditional printmaking processes such as intaglio and lithography. Through a process of digital-to-analog transferring, images will be completed and finalized ‘by-hand’ in the given medium.

Math-less Structure

As a group we will build a structure from scratch without any centralized planning, architectural map, or any measurement tools. All cuts, angles, dimensions and forms will be “eyed” collaboratively.

All materials will be recycled from a previous structure that has been dissembled. Tools will be supplied.

Support/Logistics/Materials needed: Planned for Spring 2010. An open gallery space, field or lot is preferred.
